How is your web site rated by Google? Google PR (Page Rank)
Page Rank is a relatively new term in the Internet marketing world. Not surprisingly, the term has rapidly become very popular among search engine marketers, and Internet entrepreneurs. Google Page is a fundamental parameter that affects all web sites’ search engine performance.
Google PR is a general representation of a website's popularity and is primarily based on link popularity. Website with a high PageRank value will tend to have more traffic and higher positions in search engines (although other factors affect a website's search engine success).
Page Rank calculates the popularity and authoritativeness of any web page indexed in Google. Pages are ranked on the basis of the number of other web sites that provide a link back to the page, and also the rank of web sites providing a link back. Therefore if a web site with very high page rank links back to one of your your web pages, this will in turn lift the rank of the page receiving the link. This makes Google Page Rank a very "democratic" process.
Google Page Rank is a very important algorithm to help your web site competitiveness. Remember Google Page Rank, is a "Page ranking" system, this means that within your web site you could have different pages scoring a different rank. Typically your home page will display the highest page rank, as it tends to receive the highest number of link-backs.
Relevancy. Another important element that affects Google page ranking (as claimed by Internet marketers) is the relevancy of links. So if your web site receives links by high ranking web sites with a similar theme, this will in turn help your Google Page Rank.
Search Quality. Understanding Google Page Rank and generally search engine marketing, is very simple if we remember the very simple principle: "Search engines strive to provide quality, relevant results through their searches. That's how they increase their usage rates and maintain their market share". Consequently, Google Page Rank is another element (albeit NOT the only one) that helps Google identify which results are to be considered more authoritative (high quality) and relevant, for any given search.
Web Marketing Jargon. Unfortunately Google Page Rank is NOT the same as search engine ranking.
As described above, Google Page Rank is a score or grade given to all web pages, based on linking. While ranking high in a search engine for a certain key phrase (i.e. being top of the list) is a different matter and is determined by a combination of algorithms including Page Rank.
